Speaker: Ken Dickson, Managing Director of Axiom-e Limited
Ken provides board-level input and advice on strategic financial management with a particular focus on business planning and fund-raising. A company director for over 30 years, his board responsibilities have included Finance, IT and Personnel. He now uses this experience to help train the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Ken has a BAcc (Hons) degree from the University of Glasgow and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA). He also has an "Executive MBA equivalent" from London & Bradford Business Schools.
Before establishing Axiom-e to provide part-time Finance Director support to growing organisations, he gained more than 20 years of international business experience in leading companies such as Unilever, Sterling Drug, Rexam and Redbridge Holdings.
Ken works with ambitious company owners/directors who want to know how to grow their organisations in the long-term whilst ensuring short-term survival. He works with clients at all stages of their business life cycle - "From start-ups to trade sales, experience counts"!
His eclectic mix of clients have covered commercial companies, charities and social enterprises and included start-ups and early stage companies, a high-tech engineering social enterprise, a leading recruitment company, software developers, and research-based University spin-outs, as well as a school.. He has raised finance ranging from £20,000 of asset backed finance to £4million of venture capital funding.
By ensuring that the financial management of their business is taken care of, clients can concentrate on the other aspects of their business and so be better placed to achieve their objectives.
Ken is a Director and/or Company Secretary of several organisations including Dragonmobility Ltd, a designer and manufacturer of specialised powered wheelchairs for the active disabled community, and City Church (Cambridge). He provides strategic financial management advice to the Board and Senior Management Team at The Moller Centre for Continuing Education Ltd, a leading residential Management Development Centre owned by Churchill College, University of Cambridge, and has advised on content for their blended learning courses.
During his career, Ken has been a University Lecturer in Management and Management Accounting and an Assistant Examiner for CIMA, on whose MiP Assessment Panel he sat for many years.
Ken speaks at conferences and to companies, imparting his practical knowledge and wisdom on a variety of business topics.
